Harun al-Rashid

Was a Caliph(leader) of Islam and was strong politically,militarily, and intellectually. His political relations included China and Charlemagne. His intellect was great and he was a poet and scholar himself. One thing he sent Charlemagne was a water clock that had a little knight come out of a door each hour. His realm made Islam prosperous and he also visited Mecca several times as a pilgrimage all Muslims take.
